Skill in Action: Transforming Yoga Practice and Philosophy into Lived Experience
The skill of yoga is an active engagement in daily life predicated on a mind that is even, calm, and responsive. Yoga philosophy provides the framework and inspiration of skillful living, whereas the methods or practices of yoga help us to develop and apply discerning awareness in our daily lives. Discernment arises through the focus of attention and it is a necessary quality required to make wise decisions and engage in skillful action. Furthermore, we each have a unique contribution to make in the world. When our purpose and potential are aligned with our actions, our lives become meaningful contributions in support of the collective.
This 2-night retreat will be a synthesis of the historical and cultural context of the philosophy of yoga as skill in action paired with yoga practices. Through evidence-based top-down, bottom-up approaches, participants will learn ways to apply yoga philosophy and practices as integrative techniques to enhance autonomic tone and manage stress to remain steady yet adaptable to meet the challenges of emotionally charged and destabilizing social issues such as racism and post truth politics. The wisdom of yoga philosophy will serve as a foundation for understanding one’s purpose expressed through their actions. Deeper insights into the human nervous system will support our ability to recognize our internal states and develop techniques to respond to them as we first need to be able to self-regulate before we can co-regulate with others. This retreat will include a critical analysis of the intersections of yoga philosophy, health science, social implications, and embodied practice.

Rooted & Restored: Nature‑Based Tools for Stress Relief and Everyday Resilience
Nature is one of our oldest companions, and often an ally in finding balance, calm, and belonging - yet in times of stress it can be easy to forget how deeply our bodies are connected to the natural world. Long before modern psychology mapped the brain’s stress responses, our bodies were learning from wind, water, soil, and trees how to adapt and return to steadiness. Rooted & Restored is an immersive, trauma-informed workshop that weaves together nervous system science and practical, evidence-based tools with earth spirituality, ritual, and elemental connection — inviting you to remember that balance isn’t something you have to master, but something your body already knows how to return to.
Through accessible teachings on stress, trauma and resilience, followed by guided outdoor practices that integrate stress-reduction tools, somatic grounding exercises, reciprocal breathwork with plants and trees, meditation, nature mandala creation, and release rituals you’ll experience nature not just as landscape — but as ally, teacher, and steady presence. No prior experience with nature‑based programs, meditation, or mental health concepts is needed. Nature accepts you just as you are, and the land will meet you there.

Pleasure, Play, and Desire
“Pleasure is the point. Feeling good is not frivolous, it is freedom.”
― adrienne maree brown, Pleasure Activism: The Politics of Feeling Good
There are at least two things we need in order to experience pleasure in our bodies: knowing we have choice and knowing it’s okay to have desire. These seem like simple things, but pleasure, touch, sex, and desire are sometimes tinged with confusion, fear, and other complex feelings. We will explore this terrain using dance and aspects of Betty Martin’s Wheel of Consent work. We will practice noticing, trusting, valuing, and communicating consent, boundaries, and desires. There will be invitations for non-sexual touch, but touching and being touched is never required.
All adults are welcome, regardless of gender identity, gender expression, sex assigned at birth, sexual orientation, relationship status, or dance experience. We strive to co-create an environment that is sex positive, inclusive, curious and expansive, and we strive to honor the experiences each person brings into the room.

Equinox invites us to balance the feminine and masculine energies within self and culture, doing our part to heal the wounds of overdrive, competition, and depletion through receptivity, intuition, and care. Through guided yoga practices and IFS-informed reflection, participants will be supported in cultivating Self-leadership — the capacity to meet all aspects of themselves with compassion, clarity, and connection. Radical Restoration: Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra, & Sound Healing Retreat
Experience blissful relaxation as a radical path to self-realization, supported by an empowered intention-setting process from the tradition of yoga. Retreat into deeply embodied peace and contentment as we explore mindfulness, purpose, intention (sankalpa), and grace through the restorative practices of Yoga Nidra, Restorative & Gentle Yoga, and Sound Healing.
Even for those who have struggled with meditation in the past, these practices resonate deeply. Yoga Nidra guides the body and mind into an optimal brain-wave state—opening and healing the mind-heart-body connection so that we may realize our truest selves with greater wholeness and ease.

Creative Empowerment
This retreat is a call to all men and women ready to ignite their power, awaken their truth, and move with purpose.
Come home to your body. Come home to your essence.
Over the course of 6 transformative days, we will explore each of the 5 Elements: Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Space. Each day will focus on the unique energy and qualities of one element through conscious dance, playful yoga, fascial movement principles, breathwork and ceremony. When we learn to balance our elements, we can enhance our physical and energetic bodies.
This creates a harmonious connection to our chakra system and super-charges our whole life. The elemental map that guides this retreat leads you to a treasure chest filled with the light of your own inner healer and somatic wisdom.

Awakening Into The Sacred
Retreats are a time to go deeper into your personal practice while supported by a senior teacher with over 30 years of teaching experience and with a community of dedicated practitioners. Immersing ourselves in the ancient traditions of yoga and Ayurveda, with dedicated practice time and a community of fellow seekers, allows the teachings to penetrate us even more deeply.
Many students experience states of well-being and insight that would be otherwise unavailable in the fray of daily life. Frequently, students report lasting transformation from the depth of these retreats.
These retreats include a focus on yoga from an Ayurvedic perspective. Retreats include asana practice, pranayama and meditation, chanting practices to restore your nervous system and revitalize your endocrine and immune systems, and Dharma Study Groups.
