October Workshops

October 2018

Click a workshop for more information.

Each of is born with our unique purpose, our path to walk. Modern life often takes us far from this path.  We suffer all kinds of physical, psychological and spiritual problems because of this distance from our authentic selves. This conference brings together ancient and modern wisdom from many traditions to help us find our path of heart and the purpose of our life, and then empower us in walking this path.  As we reconnect with our path of heart we move through life with beauty, direction, power and meaning.  We will focus on our path of heart around our work, our relationships, our sexuality, our spiritual path and our path as world change agents.

Our teachers come from many traditions including Native American, Peruvian, Western Tantra, Aikido, and Process -Oriented Psychology.  All of these traditions bring deep wisdom about how to move through life connected to Sprit. Our teachers will include Marilyn Youngbird, Wind Eagle, Gary Reiss, Sage Emery, Miguel Angel, Daryl Berlie, Dawn Beck, and Gerrard Gatz.

“If I could say with words what my dances are telling, there would be no need to dance them.”

Enter the temple of your body. Drop into art-time and soul-space. Embrace your authentic movement. Listen to the whispers of your heart.

DanceQuest offers four days of movement, stillness, music, silence, journaling, ritual and soul-crafting. We come together to remember our vision, reclaim our wisdom and rejoice in community. Using movement as fuel and breath as fire, we burn away what no longer serves. Engaging intuition and instinct, we connect to a larger self, breaking open a life that has grown too small. If your body is tired of being ignored… if your heart desires a nurturing circle of women… if your soul needs reflection and rejuvenation… if you want to get away, and back to yourself… the dance awaits you.

Paula Byrne, since 1996, has facilitated conscious movement: Wild Grace™, DanceQuest™, Soul Motion™, contact improv, authentic movement and trance dance. She teaches internationally and is the founder of SomaSpace in Portland, Oregon.

To be in the world is a gift.  To be of the world is misery.  It is our human potential to live with the richness and beauty of the inner world, while engaged in all that life is.  This retreat focuses on living a dynamic life centered in the continuity and flow of Presence.  The practices that we will do enable one to stay true, real, and authentic amidst relationships, work, and human experience.  Tantric Meditations, light movement and Presence practices will inform these days spent discovering what it is to be really true and fully engaged with Life.

Adi Vajra is a spiritual teacher living in Hood River, OR.  Trained in multiple disciplines such as classical yoga, Shamanism, Tibetan Buddhism, the Enneagram and A Course in Miracles, Adi is a teacher who reaches beyond the confines of doctrine to the authentic ancient core of true knowledge.  He incorporates deep psychological understanding with the energy of presence, and emphasizes living with reverence, clarity and joy, opening to the transmission of sacredness in stillness as well as everyday living.

Our lives tumble and flow in streams of joy, beauty and wonder, and surge through rocky rapids of pain, loss and letting go.  Together these qualities define what it means to be human.

Neutralizing your past traumas, hurts and fears while releasing anger, shame, guilt and hopelessness frees your energy for your goals and passions.  It allows you to reenter your world stronger, more grounded and energized with a renewed acceptance and love for yourself.

If you are living with terminal illness or care for someone who is – or if you’re awash with new or old grief or pain – please join us.  And if you simply want to look deeply at the challenge this inevitable theme presents, you are welcome.

With dharma dialogues and teachings from a range of traditions, along with sitting meditation and interactive exercises, we’ll explore the terrain of loving, living and dying.   We’ll cultivate contemplative practices and perspectives that can carry us through the gentle rains and the pounding storms of our lives.  Dana is welcome but not required.

Betsy Toll volunteers as a chaplain, supporting dying individuals and those who love them.  She offers dharma programs in Portland, and bows to Ram Dass, Roshi Joan Halifax and Joanna Macy, whose wisdom and generosity influence her work and illuminate the dharma trail.

Holistic nursing is defined as “all nursing practice that has healing the whole person as its goal” (American Holistic Nurses’ Association, 1998, Description of Holistic Nursing). Oregon Holistic Nurses Association (OHNA) understands that holistic nursing is about a way of being, not doing. Holistic nurses may integrate complementary health practices into their practice to promote the well-being and healing of individuals.

We recognize that as health professionals, we must first heal ourselves in order to facilitate the healing potential of others. The OHNA conference offers opportunities to integrate self-care, reflection and spiritual practices, as well as to expand our awareness and nursing practice. Most classes earn CE contact hours for registered nurses.

The Breitenbush Retreat and Conference Center offers community and a healthy environment for our tenth annual event. Non-members and non-nursing holistic practitioners are welcome.
