In the old model, we often entered our workplace each day and put on a compromised version of our self. In the new paradigm, we bring our full being with our dreams, wisdom and experience, knowing that we must channel our energies in ways that balance our needs with that of the organization. We’ll explore the meaning of workplace culture, best practices for dealing with negativity (ours and others!) and methods for getting out of our own way. Join us in an interactive process where we “go deep” about what it means to do work, be at work and experience stronger results, more meaning and greater fulfillment.

Contact Improvisation (CI) is a dance practice of caring for oneself while moving in physical contact with others. It asks us to show up in our diversity and focus on the dynamics of interbeing. It calls us to own the inherent belonging and freedom available in the one and only unfolding now. The contact includes us. The improvisation frees us.

The WOW is a five-day journey dedicated to exploring the CI paradigm of mutual well-being, on and off the dance floor. All levels of experience are welcome. Each is supported to begin where they are and be curious about what nourishes and celebrates us all. WOW! Three two-hour sessions are available each day. The dance space is available round the clock.

Carolyn Stuart and Patrick Gracewood are the Touchmonkey limb of CI; a dance duo exploring, teaching, performing the ‘wow’ of contact improvising for 30 years. They find the interplay of inquiry, experimentation and discovery to be exhilarating and satisfying. Currently they offer CI events at Gracewood Studio in Portland. Join Lisa Mae and Monicka from The Bhaktishop, Portland’s only yoga center that weaves the teachings of bhakti into yoga. During this immersive weekend we’ll introduce the philosophical essentials of bhakti yoga: hearing, chanting and remembering God, while honing discipline and attention through the practices of physical yoga asana. In this retreat, work with renewed bio-mechanics of movement to reshape your physical practice, and listen to your heart to cultivate a sense of devotion as you participate in the weaving of these two classical paths of practice as a profound shift in consciousness.

Lisa Mae Osborn and Monicka Koneski share the loving path of bhakti (devotional) yoga as well as the intelligent understanding of aligned and efficient bio-mechanics in the body through yoga. They help inspire other truth seekers to open in new and surprising ways through their own unique expressions in both paths of practice. Bhakti yoga is a practice of giving, and they try to be a living embodiment of that service every day.

As humans we need connection. We long for intimacy, yet so many of us are left feeling unsatisfied, isolated and alone. In this retreat, we will learn to deepen our relationships through the teachings of the Brahma Viharas, the four qualities of the heart: loving-kindness, compassion, appreciative joy and equanimity.

The Brahma Viharas are like road maps, which help us navigate relationships. Whether we’re relating to ourselves or to others (we’re always relating to something!), these heart teachings will help us to consciously and gracefully meet whatever we’re faced with.

We will explore the Brahma Viharas through discussion, postures, breathing, meditation and being in community, and together, we will walk the steps necessary to open into intimacy.
