August Workshops

August 2019

Reiki is a form of natural healing that takes place through gentle, sacred touch. It restores health and harmony to the physical body, releases emotional blockages and activates a closer connection to spirit. Reiki works with the vibration of love and compassion and is an easy form of self-healing. Its recent origins have been traced back to Japan in the late 1800’s and the inspired work of Dr. Mikao Usui. The opening to this simple and mysterious universal life energy happens through a series of initiations and the practice of the form through various hand positions. Frank honors the oral tradition and Phyllis Furumoto as the lineage bearer. This is a First Degree Reiki class.

Frank Coppieters, PhD, Reiki Master, LMT #2385, taught at the graduate level for 13 years at the University of Antwerp in Belgium before he became a spiritual teacher, counselor and Reiki Master. He has a full-time private practice in Portland where he does Reiki, massage, shamanistic work and counseling.

As we approach the end of our current cycle of ages, increasing numbers of Western spiritual seekers are learning to access the inner worlds for power and protection, support and healing, utilizing an ancient method of meditation called shamanic journeywork. This weekend workshop will provide participants with
a powerful introduction to the shaman’s path, leading them into connection with their helping spirits and spirit teachers, exploring the issue of personal empowerment. The weekend will close with a healing ritual. Bring a hand drum or rattle, a notebook, an eye shade and a light blanket and small power objects for the altar.

Hank Wesselman PhD., anthropologist, has spent much of his life with traditional people in Africa. He is the author of nine books on shamanism. His most recent are The Re-Enchantment: A Shamanic Path to a Life of Wonder, The Bowl of Light: Ancestral Wisdom from a Hawaiian Shaman and the award-winning Awakening to the Spirit World (with Sandra Ingerman).

Healthcare professionals and laypersons alike are rediscovering the healing modalities pioneered by indigenous shamans. These time-tested techniques are being reworked, providing non-tribal Westerners with effective methods for healing and problem solving. We will expand our connections to our helping spirits, our spirit teachers and our healing masters, as well as the elementals.

We will experience a classic level of shamanic initiation, work with shamanic extraction methods and learn a unique approach to soul retrieval. The week will include ancestral lineage healing and will culminate with a full-on transpersonal shamanic healing ritual. Bring a rattle, hand drum, notebook, a bandana or eye- shade and a light blanket.

Visionseeker Level 3 will be offered at Breitenbush Oct 27 – Nov 1.

Join us for the 2019 Northwest Reiki Gathering as we welcome Reiki Masters from three different continents to share their unique visions and Reiki wisdom. Explore how Reiki can lead us to be in harmony. As Sensei Phyllis says, “we all have a song inside of us.” What is your song and how do you bring your unique tone to the harmony of Reiki?

This is an extraordinary opportunity where the footprints of our Reiki evolution expand beyond our own region, allowing us to explore the many ways our songs sound in harmony, in both the inner and outer world.

Master Time is open to all initiated Reiki Masters. The weekend gathering is open to all initiated Reiki Masters and students.

Paul Mitchell, USA: Head of Discipline for Usui Shiki Ryoho. Hyakuten Inamoto, Japan: Founder Komyo ReikiDo. Frans Stiene, Australia: Co-Founder Interna- tional House of Reiki.

Our bodies have seven energy centers, called chakras. When these centers are healthy and open, we are too – physically, emotionally, and in our relationships. When they are blocked – through injury, illness, suppression or emotional disconnection – we are blocked from being our best self.

We also have an “overthinking” mind that causes us great concern, tension, worry, anxiety, fear, sadness and anger.

This retreat introduces Osho Active Meditations for exploration and experience of both the chakras and the reality beyond the mind! The meditations help us open energy blockages that inhibit our ability to have a vital, satisfying life! We will then be able to connect with silence and the expansive dimension beyond the mind, which includes stillness and peacefulness!

The facilitators, Shanti Schenker-Skye and Subhan Schenker, are certified Osho Meditation Instructors. They lived in Osho communes for many years. They have a combined 85 years of meditation experience! They are the co-directors of the World of Meditation Center in Seattle, Washington; and they facilitate workshops worldwide, in Asia, Europe, Mexico and the US.
