August Workshops

August 2020

Click a workshop for more information.

On the sacred land of Breitenbush, we immerse ourselves in the timelessness of nature’s wisdom. Yoga reveals this wisdom as our very nature. As we awaken our hearts and minds, renew our vitality and radiance, and rest deeply into the innate sacredness of life, we are returned to the vast intelligence and compassion that has held us all along. Join us in deep physical asana, profoundly restful meditations and compelling conversation for living your yoga on and off the mat.

This retreat is for intermediate and advanced students enthusiastic about the beauty, intricacy and power of asana as a gateway to stillness, expansiveness and love.

Sarahjoy Marsh, MA, C-IAYT, E-RYT 500 yoga teacher, yoga therapist and author, is a vibrant, compassionate catalyst for transformation. She founded Oregon’s Prison Yoga Programs in 1998, and has taught publicly since 1993, integrating ayurveda, interpersonal neurobiology, and the psychology and practice of yoga. Proceeds from retreats support prison yoga outreach for which Sarahjoy has actively volunteered for over 21 years.

Healthcare professionals and laypersons alike are rediscovering the healing modalities pioneered by indigenous shamans. These time-tested techniques are being reworked, providing non-tribal Westerners with effective methods for healing and problem solving. We will expand our connections to our helping spirits, our spirit teachers and our healing masters, as well as the elementals.

We will experience a classic level of shamanic initiation, work with shamanic extraction methods and learn a unique approach to soul retrieval. The week will include ancestral lineage healing and will culminate with a full-on transpersonal shamanic healing ritual. Bring a rattle, hand drum, notebook, a bandana or eye-shade and a light blanket.

Hank Wesselman PhD., anthropologist, has spent much of his life with traditional people in Africa. He is the author of nine books on shamanism. His most recent are The Re-Enchantment: A Shamanic Path to a Life of Wonder, The Bowl of Light: Ancestral Wisdom from a Hawaiian Shaman and the award-winning Awakening to the Spirit World (with Sandra Ingerman).

River Ledgerwood is a Sufi, a shamanist and spirit medicine practitioner who co-teaches with Hank Wesselman at their workshops in the Pacific Northwest. riverledgerwood@protonmail.com

We gather to open to the mystery of Reiki’s evolution. What is the next step for the human species and how does Reiki play a part in this? How do we see ourselves in the visionary role of what’s next? How do we lovingly co-create what is still unknown? Dare we step outside of the box?

Tripuri Dunne has practiced Reiki for over 30 years, and has taught in London for the past 22. She’s had the opportunity to learn from Wanja Twan, Phyllis Furumoto, Paul Mitchell, Rick Bockner, and Fran Brown. She is fascinated by the mystery of life and how Reiki will play its part in the evolution of consciousness needed for our future well being.

Frank Coppieters was initiated as a shaman in 1985 and became a Reiki Master in 1989. He currently teaches Reiki and shamanism in the United States and Belgium. In his latest book Unity in Everything That Is (2019) he chronicles his spiritual journey and offers insights of hope and purpose.

During these increasingly intense times, we have the choice to spiral downwards into despair or rise up into love and connection. Meghan Maris and Anne Witmer invite you to choose a deep dive into the yoga of love, connection and community. Through the daily practice of yoga, meditation and shared discussion, the true meaning of interconnection and its critical role in the evolution of our planet will be explored.

Together we will examine how to foster and sustain the experience of connection and unconditional love despite internal or external resistance. Practicing together, we will discover the importance of community in supporting our own personal growth and the power of shared intention for transforming our world.

Meghan Maris and Anne Witmer are two of Portland’s most beloved yoga teachers with over 20 years of experience leading workshops, retreats, teacher trainings and advanced yogic study programs.

We will use mantras, tuning forks, guided meditation including Yoga Nidra, crystal singing bowls, and other various offerings to create balance, peace, clarity, and presence. Three sound healing sessions and two gentle Hatha flow practices with mantra. Older children who are inspired to be still and receive the lullaby vibes are welcome at the sound healing sessions.

Sound plays a vital role in all mystical traditions, as it is the bridge between the lower and higher worlds, the unconscious and conscious, the form and the formless.

The ancient practice of Nada Yoga facilitates the release of traumas and the clearing of emotions; the alignment of body, speech and mind; the development of intuition and creativity; and the tuning into your true Beingness.

Learn time-tested body movements
and vocal techniques that free the unique natural voice and help you tap into your authentic Self. Learn practices that purify and magnetize the physical and subtle energy bodies. Learn specific ragas (musical modes) to clear and balance the emotional body. Access the Sacred within by singing chants of various traditions. Explore vocal improvisation and your own healing sounds and songs.

Shanti Shivani is a singer/nada yogini/sound healer, internationally acclaimed seminar leader and recording artist. She has practiced Nada Yoga and Dhrupad, the most ancient style of Hindustani classical music, since 1981 in the Dagar lineage and brings a wealth of vocal, meditative and movement experience to her classes.

Trillium Awakening is a path of conscious embodied awakening in mutuality. If you are committed to your path of awakening and seeking a vibrant world-wide community of teachers and practitioners, or are already a Trillium Awakening student, this event is for you. It’s also for you if you have had an awakening and are wondering, “What’s next?”

Each morning in our whole group gatherings, the focus will be on one of the core teachings: consciousness clarification, experiential embodiment and mutuality in action.

Afternoons will provide an opportunity to dive deeply into your own process of awakening while being held by a small group of peers with two teachers present for guidance, support and reflection.

In the last 25 years, over 500 people have had their awakenings on this proven path. For more info: trilliumawakening.org or about this event sponsored by the Olympia community: trilliumolympia.org.

Margit Bantowsky, Kirstin Eventyr and Joanne Lee are the Olympia-based Trillium teachers. For full bios: trilliumawakening.org.

This four day silent retreat invites us to rest more deeply in, and as, our natural openness. Through silent and guided meditations paired with meditative somatic inquiry, talks, conversation and subtle body yoga, we open to our true nature. As we attune more intimately with our essential nature, a vibrant current of wisdom, love and aliveness spontaneously emerges and radiates outward into our ordinary lives, infusing our relationships and work.

Together, we’ll inquire through the heart as a portal into a multi-dimensional realm of remarkable sensitivity and knowing; an open gate through which we can fall into deep peace and a feeling of exquisite intimacy—with ourselves, with other people, and with life itself.

John Prendergast, Ph.D., author of The Deep Heart and In Touch, is a retired adjunct professor of psychology at CIIS, and spiritual teacher.

Christiane Prendergast has studied and taught the Kashmiri approach to yoga for many decades.
