Stewart-CubleyIn process painting the goal is free expression, with emphasis on the creative process rather than on technique or expertise. The Painting Experience takes place in a respectful and nurturing environment where you’ll receive individual attention and guidance to help you open to inspiration, growth and change.

~ Discover a creative voice entirely your own. ~ Trust your intuitive perception, not the mind’s critical chatter. ~ Follow your energy rather than what looks good or makes sense. ~ Overcome blocks by following their hidden message. ~ Experience your imagination as intelligent—a doorway to deeper knowing. ~ Explore process painting as a path to spiritual awakening.

You are welcome even if you’ve never picked up a paintbrush. All materials are supplied—all you have to bring is YOU!

For nearly four decades, Stewart Cubley has pioneered a way of integrative and creative living through the practice of process painting. Co-author of Life, Paint & Passion: Reclaiming the Magic of Spontaneous Expression, Stewart has led seminars throughout the world at learning-based organizations, corporations, monasteries, prisons and other public forums. CE credits for MFT/LCSW/LPCC/LEP/RN.

Through the practices of yoga we experience love, grace, openness, contentment and joy. Yet we don’t sustain this luminous understanding. What gets in the way? Explore the fundamental obstacles to living as love: human restlessness, out of balance living, mental habits and conditioning that keeps us tied to our more primitive thinking.

Through psycho-educational discussions, Sarahjoy and Jay address key elements of our human restlessness (for more, visit www.sarahjoyyoga.com/yogaandlove). Yoga practices, breathing techniques and meditation support us in addressing anxiety, self-critical thinking and self-care ambivalence, guiding us to the love that is our basic nature and giving us a repertoire of skills for the daily life that forgets this love.

Sarahjoy Marsh, MA, RYT has taught yoga since 1994 and practiced mind-body counseling since 2001. She is founder of the DAYA Foundation, a non-profit yoga therapy center known for its integration of mindfulness, yoga, neuroscience and psychotherapy.

Jay Gregory, PhD, is a clinical psychologist with 20 years of experience in couples therapy and anxiety issues, using insight-oriented psychodynamics to help clients transform through reinterpreting emotional and interpersonal processes.

Embody the sacred space in your design of landscapes with this intensive course. Using modern ecological design and permaculture principles, along with intuitive and spiritual practices, we will embark to design the landscape of Breitenbush’s new residential development.

Join us, award winning ecological designer and author Jessi Bloom, and renowned permaculture designer and teacher Andrew Millison, as we walk through the spiral of the design process from observation and awareness to the practical tools of design and implementation. Not only will we delve into techniques of rainwater harvesting, food forests, drafting, budgets, plants and permits, but we will also attune ourselves to the spirit of the land and the community through meditation, ritual and collaborative meetings. Designing the new housing development will be the focus of this course and will include hot springs, gardens, orchards, water systems, natural building and community gathering spaces. It will be a true sacred garden and will benefit the community for generations to come. It’s the perfect opportunity to learn real world skills for designing enlightening spaces.

“Few regions pack such a variety of trails into an area crossable by a two-hour drive,” writes William Sullivan about the Oregon Cascades, and we will explore as much of that variety as can be packed into a seven-day trip. Our day hikes will include cold creeks in the foothills, wooded lakes, rushing rivers, barren lava fields and vistas of snow-capped peaks from above tree line. We will sleep in large tents provided by the retreat, eat breakfast and dinner in the lodge and pack our lunches to take on the trail.

This is a Sierra Club national outing. More information can be found on the Sierra Club website: www.sierraclub.org/outings/national, click on “advanced search” and search for trips led by Robert Lowe.

Robert Lowe attended his first Sierra Club backpack trip over 40 years ago. Motivated both by the beauty of the outdoors and by the close relationships that develop on Sierra Club trips, he began leading trips in 2015. Co-leader Leah Madoff has hiked, backpacked and skied for decades in the Sierra, the Pacific Northwest, the Rockies, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and the Catskills

Hank WesselmanAs we approach the end of our current cycle of ages, increasing numbers of Western spiritual seekers are learning to access the inner worlds for power and protection, support and healing, utilizing an ancient method of meditation called shamanic journeywork. This weekend workshop will provide participants with a powerful introduction to the shaman’s path, leading them into connection with their helping spirits and spirit teachers, exploring the issue of personal empowerment. The weekend will close with a healing ritual. Bring a hand drum or rattle, a notebook, an eye shade and a light blanket.

Hank Wesselman, anthropologist, has spent much of his life with traditional people in Africa. He is the author of nine books on shamanism. His most recent are The Re-Enchantment: A Shamanic Path to a Life of Wonder, The Bowl of Light: Ancestral Wisdom from a Hawaiian Shaman and the award-winning Awakening to the Spirit World (with Sandra Ingerman).

Reality that we experience through our limited sense organs may not quite be what we conceive it to be. For a being with different or heightened organs of perception, it could very well be something else. ‘M’ will discuss thinking patterns, lifestyle changes and various practical techniques that will help the seeker to become aware of hitherto unused organs of perception and ultimately experience true reality.

Mumtaz Ali, also called ‘M,’ was attracted to Vedantic philosophy at a young age. He is a student, master and teacher of all spiritual traditions. He does not choose one religion over another, preferring to live and teach the essence of all religions. ‘M’s guru was a direct disciple of the great Himalayan Master, Babaji. The Kriya he teaches is of that lineage.
‘M’ recently authored Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master—A Yogi’s Autobiography. Available at www.magentapress.in or Google search Sri ‘M.’

Hank WesselmanHealthcare professionals and laypersons alike are rediscovering the healing modalities pioneered by indigenous shamans. These time-tested techniques are being reworked, providing non-tribal Westerners with effective methods for healing and problem solving. We will expand our connections to our helping spirits, our spirit teachers and our healing masters, as well as the elementals.

We will experience a classic level of shamanic initiation, work with shamanic extraction methods and learn a unique approach to soul retrieval. The week will include ancestral lineage healing and will culminate with a full-on transpersonal shamanic healing ritual. Bring a rattle, hand drum, notebook, a bandana or eyeshade and a light blanket.

edgu-logoEDGU (edge-you) is evolutionary spinal maintenance. Grounded in an open, stable stance that specifically isolates all motion to the spine, the upper body is gracefully gyrated through a fluid sequence of pivotal movements. This art of rhythmic spinal tuning systematically exercises the intervertebral disks to avoid disk degeneration by maintaining their inherent strength, pliability and absorbency. EDGU balances the left and right hemispheres of the body/brain, keeps the vertebral bodies mobile, liberates spinal compensation patterns and creates a “wholly” experience, blending body movement with spiritual invocation.

The EDGU Training program is a five-day event for learning and imparting the 14 step EDGU sequence. Daily schedule includes EDGU classes, step-by-step EDGU breakdown instruction, practice sessions, in-depth spinal maintenance insights, free time and laughter. So whether EDGU is cultivated as a personal practice, shared one on one as EDGU therapy or taught in group classes, you will fully activate your ‘Edge You’ experience.

You are not who you think you are. Beneath the habits of anxiety, self-hatred, addiction, anger and depression there exist within you oceans of ease, love, compassion and happiness. The ancient meditation teachings of the Buddha are effective ways to manifest these vast potentials. This silent retreat includes sitting, walking, movement and eating meditations. Thorough instruction will be offered. In keeping with Buddhist tradition, the workshop fee covers room and board only. The teacher’s livelihood depends upon your practice of generosity. Your gifts (dana) at the end of the retreat make the teachings available to others.

Robert Beatty, MES, MSW, is the founder and guiding teacher of the Portland Insight Meditation Community. He brings 40 years of Buddhist Dharma practice to his teaching and work with individuals. Robert is a member of the first wave of lay Theravada Buddhist teachers who brought Buddhism from Asia to America.
